California Sandwiches is a family owned restaurant located in North York, across from Downsview Park. It was started over 20 years ago by two sisters, Mary and Yolanda. The original location was started over 50 years ago by their family in little Italy on Claremont street in downtown Toronto. They understood that their veal sandwich, which they are best known for, was something special and wanted bring it to a new part of the city. In 1996 the Chesswood location was opened and is still family owned and operated, serving the same recipes to this day. Whether you dine in or takeout, we will always strive to give our customers our best.  

At California Sandwiches we pride ourselves on continuing to make our food using the same methods as when we first started making sandwiches over 50 years ago in downtown Toronto. We don't believe in taking shortcuts at our restaurant. From preparing the food to keeping our kitchen clean, we only do things the traditional way. Rest assure that whether you eat in or takeout, your getting over 50 years of tradition in every bite. 

Much like the original California Sandwiches location in downtown Toronto, our attention to quality is unmatched. We make everything, from our sandwiches to our sauce, with only the best ingredients. Our meat and produce is delivered fresh daily and prepared for our customers in North York. We don't prepare anything in advance and pay close attention to the quality of everything when it’s delivered. If it doesn't meet our high standards, then it's sent back. We don't settle for anything less then great in our Downsview restaurant. Takeout has never been so good.
